The Land: The Corona

The province of the Corona lies across the top of Westria like a crown. Most of it is mountains, from the peaks of the Ramparts and the Mother of Fire (Mt. Lassen) westward to the coast. Rising above all the rest is the mighty peak of the Father of Mountains (Mt. Shasta), home of the College of the Wise, where Faris is given her first magical training and Luz studies to become a priestess. To the north, its ranges form a border with Normontaine. Relations with Westria's northern neighbor are peaceful, but the region is plagued by bandits who hide in the wild country to the north and east. The principal fortress is the Hold, set on a bluff above the upper Dorada where the foothills descend to the Great Valley (today's Redding).

Action set in the Corona includes Julian's journey to the Mother of Fire and travels to the Hold and the College of the Wise onth Father of Mountains.
